Fashion Shoot

My mom watched Sug while I worked out this weekend.  I came back to find 50 new photos on my camera.
I guess the ladies were just having a little photo shoot.

Workin' on my fitness

Let me first start off by stating -
MY BODY IS A MACHINE!
I've been extremely lucky growing up to have a very strong and healthy body. I've put it through quite a lot - high school basketball, college drinking and no sleeping, post college weight gain - and it still hasn't let me down.
I have a new respect for this body and realize I've taken it for granted for most of my life.  So when I think of everything that I physically went through in the last 11 months, I am amazed.  Honestly, amazed.  My body not only created another human being without using my hands - but spit it out without complications and continues to produced enough food to feed that very hungry little girl (see prior post of 75th percentile); all while keeping me healthy and (somewhat) sane.  My doctor joked that I have a body for making babies - and I now totally understand what he meant.

So once we reached the 2 month period - I decided it was time to stop the excuses and start loosing this last bit of baby weight.  Blllurg.  Its time to get my body back and also take advantage of the extra 600 calories burned by breast feeding.
I gained 50 lbs while baking that Sugar Bear and I felt every single ounce, especially in my knees.  I've got 15 lbs left to loose until I'm back to my pre-preggo weight and it's not going to be easy, mainly due to my lack of free time. James and I have come up with a tentative plan for exercise and diet and are executing it this week.  We're using www.myfitnessplan.com - which is basically a poor man's Weight Watchers.  I like the free part the best :)
Wish us luck - I'll try updating as we shed... or I may never mention this again as I gorge on chocolate while laying on the couch.

Getting to Know You - 2 Months

Sugar Bear had her 2 month check-up on Friday.  She's doing EXCELLENT and developing right on schedule!  For first time parents, who are constantly waiting for someone to tell us we're doing it wrong... this was all good news.
Here are her stats:
Weight - 11 lbs. 12 oz. - 75 percentile
Height - 22 inches - 30 percentile
Head 15.5 inches - 50 percentile
(they only measure the top of her head - not her cheeks)

She's decided she has arms; and she likes them too - constantly grabbing and punching anything within arm span.  She enjoys playing on her back but tummy time is still a real drag; unless on Papa's belly.  She's also started chatting - often in the car or early morning (4 am) gabfest with Gus.  Her hair is still brown and she's yet to decided what color those peepers will finally be - right now they are still a very cloudy slate gray.  Smiling is not a common occurrence - she's a tough crowd and will only smile if she finds something highly amusing.  Maybe she's just really sarcastic and doesn't find baby humor like 'peek-a-boo' to be all that funny.

oh Sug.

A friend sent me this as words to live by for raising my daughter.
If this is true, Sug - you are gonna be one funny bunny!

Hoppy Easter Bunny Hooray!

Sug celebrated her first Easter in Tyler and was so cute doing it.  She did really well in church and during brunch, but when it came time for an Easter bunny pic; she was done.  Oh well, there's always next year, and the year after that, and the year after...

I'm a girl

Much to papa's dismay - we have enough hair for a bow now.

Marriott

James was able to meet his boss yesterday.  No, like, his REAL boss.  Here's a photo of Mr. Marriott and James at his hotel.  Most hotels are franchised and often managed by a third party company as well; but James works in a unique property that is not only managed by Marriott, it is owned by Marriott as well.  Thus our excellent insurance and stellar benefits.

Getting to know you, getting to know allll about you.

Nora Pearlie is turning into a little person.  She's slowly starting to look like a baby and loosing that newborn feeling (aka - she's getting fat).  Next Tuesday she will be 2 months and is really developing and growing so fast!

This morning she giggled at me with her toothless smile for the first time.  We've heard her laugh many times before - but never when she's awake.  Her dreams seem hilarious and when I ask her what was so funny, she just blinks and pretends she doesn't know what I'm talking about.  She's very secretive.

Her favorite past times are still sleeping and eating; but her awake time is much more alert.  She loves taking her dog for walks around the neighborhood and doing 10 minute increments of tummy time (after 10 minutes her patience is shot). She enjoys music that is about 5 years old - Dispatch and Jack Johnson.  She likes listening to papa sing in weird voices and can't take her eyes off a particular cow mirror whenever he is present.

She's sleeping like a champ at night too (did I just jinx myself).  Only waking up once, around 3 or 4 am and then again around 6 or 7 am.  Once she gets her breakfast she normally can't fight off those early morning zzzz's, so she's usually asleep when we get to daycare.  Gas makes her fussy, but nothing a little bouncing on the exercise ball can't fix.  And of course putting on pj's will make her scream bloody murder... I try to let her know this is the least of her troubles, but she's too busy screaming to listen.  And much like her momma - she loves a good solid routine.  Since starting daycare we've seen a noticeable difference and are happy that she is adjusting to her new schedule so willingly.
She seems to fit into our life just perfectly.
