I heart beets

James and I often get "you look just like ___". There's always someone who grew up with someone "who looks just like you." It sometimes get annoying.

And if we are compared to celebrities: I most often get told I look like Jamie Lee Curtis and James gets either Chandler from Friends, or Pacey from Dawson's Creek. All of which I can see a small resemblance.

But Saturday night took the CAKE!

We headed up to ol' college country (Oklahoma) for a friend's birthday. While at dinner a new acquaintance; which we now can assuredly peg as socially awkward; points at James and says, "I've been trying to figure out all night who you look like: Dwight Shrute!"

Crickets.

No one knew whether to laugh or not. And sadly, the guy was totally serious and continued to repeat it again later in the evening. The only good thing is that James took it like a champ and let everyone at the table know that he too was a big fan of beets. Which may be why they resemble each other so much.
Later once the weird guy left (not James, the other one) we all had a good laugh about it. And reassured James that he was not even close to resembling the creepiest dude on primetime television.

Spoiled Rotten

I've been spoiled, I must admit, with the constant presence of fresh flowers. James brings them home quite often. And this weekend a friend brought me the sweetest little bunch of freesia. Nothing better than taking a deep breathe before you go to bed and smelling that sweetness.

Survival Guide

This was the ONLY way James and I were able to survive the blizzard of 2010.

Thank goodness we survived.

My favorite nephew!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CON-MAN! Hope you have a wonderful day with your new green bike!
WE LOVE YOU!

We had a record snow fall in Dallas yesterday. The most snow in 30+ years is what the weather man says... I got off work early and Gus and I attacked James with snowballs on his arrival home. It was a lovely snow day!
Here are a few snaps (from our real camera). Can you tell Gussy LOVES the snow? Here's a video of him going CRAZY. (I don't know how to flip the screen, so just tilt your head)
And yes, my pants are tucked into my socks and yes, we are in the alley behind the house.

Deep Thought Thursday with JBL - Vol. 12

This deep thought should keep you warm on this cold blistery winter day.
Knee Boarding
"FASTER!"
YOU SCREAM.
Your voice barely audible above the engine's roar.
Gliding Across.
Heading for the wake.
Landing SOLIDLY!

Haapppp Happpp Happpy Birthday DAD!

Today is my pop's birthday. This is the coconut pie my mom made for him this morning. The sad part is, it's snowing and freezing like crazy so he may not be able to come home tonight due to the weather. Then that sad sweet coconut pie will be all by itself. :(

HAPPY BIRTHDAY POPS! Hope you don't get stranded in Muenster on your birthday!

NO SLEEP FOR YOU!

Last night James was away on business, so Gustopher and I had the place to ourselves. It was a nice change... We got in our PJ's as soon as we got home. We had yogurt and fruit for dinner without anyone complaining of being hungry and watched stupid girly TV with the volume on mute. Needless to say, we enjoyed a little R&R while James was working.... UNTIL it was time to sleep. It might have been due to the fact that I haven't slept alone in the new house and I heard every single creek or that Gus paced the hall waiting for James to come home... but I woke up every hour, on the hour.

So today I am a zombie. James, when are you coming home?
PS... I need to start actually using my real camera instead of my phone, sorry about the quality.

Burrr

It's cold today and I'm dreaming of being in France, on the pebble beaches, with my husband, watching all the topless French women.

(P.S. They aren't all skinny and beautiful by the way.)

Nickie Fedderson

Long story short: James bought a painting at an auction last summer that didn't really suit our style. It was quite large and not cheap, so I couldn't just throw it out. So I had my friend Nickie Fedderson (also a former Looney employee) basically paint OVER James' painting. With an interior design degree from OSU and a masters in architecture from OU... she's now a full time artist. If you like her stuff, click here to see more.

Anyways, here's a pic from my phone... not a good one, but it will do. We love it. It looks so fresh on our gray walls and fills the space perfectly.

Thanks Nickie, it's awesome.
