Lie Berry

Lately my friend Ro and I have been hitting up the SMU main library for a couple of hours every night (They kick us out at 9pm because we can't show a college ID to prove we are students... just the creepy old people who don't have a life). She is finishing up her final research project for Children's Medical Hospital and I am studying for my LEED licensing (new item on the 27th year bucket list).
On our way to the library last night, Ro mentioned how much she hated the anxiety and stress that accompanies that smell that lets you know you are in a library. The race against the clock, the feeling of frustration, the absolute solitude and the effect a pen drop can make on the entire floor. Needless to say, she wasn't excited about going, but knew productivity needed to be at it's highest.
As for me, I'm the total opposite. I love that library smell. It takes me back to easier days: college. It gives me a sense of potential, just being there meant there was a possibility to learn something new. I wouldn't say I was a library rat, but I didn't shy away from it either. I lived off campus for 3 of my 4 years, so the library was an easy place to go during open time between classes. I studied there, I read, I socialized, I even slept in the big over sized chairs on the 5th floor. I knew the places to go if I really needed to get something done, but I also knew the places to go if I wanted to run into someone I knew. Needless to say, it was a familiar place.
Now, even though SMU is not OSU (there are very few similarities actually) it still has that same smell. The smell that means something different to all of us, but the smell never changes.

HELL FROZE OVER

This guy is getting married. We never thought this day would come, but we are SO excited that it has. CONGRATULATIONS Heather & Josh!

PS... This throw-back picture is from that period in life where everyone thought we were twins. Too bad he's three years older than me and I'm cuter.

I love BABIES!

Lots of new and exciting things have been happening lately. One of which: one of my oldest and dearest friends Jaime announced she is having a baby girl in June! We're hosting her a shower in the spring so baby Noles can get LOADS of goodies!

Don't worry... I haven't forgotten... it's your birthday. But thanks for the constant reminders.

Emergency Contact

My friend Kimbra called last night and asked if I'd be her daughter's emergency contact at daycare. How cool is that? I've never been an emergency contact although I am a Godmother, but those are two different things. One is to act quickly and thoughtfully in a unique situation and the other is more about loyalty and guidance over a long period of time...yikes... (April are you still sure about that?)
I hope there is never a situation that I need to be called for Punkie... but it sure does make me feel special to think someone thinks I could act in good judgement if something does happen.

I've been a bad blogger.

Sorry about the lack of blogs lately... it's not like things haven't been happening... I just haven't been documenting, and I'm sorry. Here's a quick list of things we've done over the past couple of weeks... to keep you up to date. Maybe I'll start back to some daily blogs soon...
1. Celebrated Christmas in Gainesville, Oklahoma & Tyler
2. Gained 5 lbs
3. Had our living room painted
4. Celebrated the end of 2009 with a great dinner at Smoke @ The Belmont Hotel
5. Found a mouse in our house!
6. Had a lucky New Years Day dinner full of cabbage and black-eyed peas
7. Watched our OSU Cowboys @ the Cotton Bowl
8. Finally bought dining chairs
9. Drank just enough
10. Saw old friends
11. Tried to stay warm during this Arctic blast
I think that's it.
